And the smoke clears… May 31, 2006

After having the server go down, up, down, up, well… you get the idea, the smoke of the Digg effect has now cleared. Quick breakdown of how the site did today:

  • 23,413 unique visitors
  • 64,846 pageviews
  • ~34,000 searches

I think it went pretty well today when you factor in the 3-4 hours of downtime earlier in the day.

Update 2: Second server is live. Should be a bit better…
Update: Everything seems to be working… for now. In any case, I have a 2nd server coming online in a few.

Wow, first time I've ever had one of my sites dugg! Over 1.5K uniques within the first hour before the site died. I had it up again for about 2-3 mins, but it got hit by another 300 uniques and went down again. I've put in another reboot request for the server. If you can't get in now, try again in a hour or so!

Decided to push a new version of Stalkerati out today:

  • Buddy lists
    Add friends by entering their various profile URLs and Instant Messaging names. Instantly view all their profiles at once by clicking their name. Stalkerati will also check their Instant Messaging status and tell you if they're online.
  • Made things a little prettier
    Login, registration and error pages now look a bit nicer.

Hello all,

If you've used Stalkerati before, you would have noticed that it has been updated today with a new UI and a few new features:

  • User Registration
    Aside from saved search histry, there are no extra benefits/features for registered users… yet… ;) As always, you can still search without logging in/registering.
  • Site Stats
    Top Stalked, # Stalked Today, Total # Stalked, Users online..
  • Aggregated Image Search
    The "Photo/Image Search" tab fetches images from Flickr & Yahoo Images based on your search and returns it in a single page.
